Who is Daniel Cook?

Daniel Cook is a cool little kid who likes dinosaurs, dragons, trying new things and just happens to have his own TV show.

How was the concept for the series born?

While in University, I worked at a talent agency where one of the agents was trying to convince Daniel's parents to consider letting him do some commercial work. There was one instance where Daniel was left downstairs with me while his parents talked with the agents. I remember talking with Daniel about Transformers and was completely taken by his personality and unusual wit. As with all kid actors everyone believed that Daniel should have his own show. I hadn't originally been interested in kid's programming but thought: if I were to do a kids show, what would it be about? That's when I jotted down "This is Daniel Cook" a TV series about a little boy who tries different things. The story unfolds from there.

What makes Daniel so special?

There are many reasons why Daniel's particularly perfect for this role but the most important one is that he is, for all intents and purposes, a regular kid. He likes dinosaurs, playing video games and writing stories. He's real. The fact that he has a curious disposition, an uncanny ability to talk with adults and quick wit only helps make him more perfect.

What has been the cast and crew reaction to the shows Gemini nomination?

Thrilled, startled, excited. This whole series has been such an adventure. The Gemini nominations are another chapter in this incredible journey.

Where will we see Daniel Cook in 10 years?

Applying to University to become a palaeontologist.
