Bronte Tagliani Interview

Bronte Tagliani

Warning: Okay my friends, grab a glass of water and take a seat before viewing this interview!

This month I was able to track down Australian born model Bronte Tagliani. This exotic beauty has appeared in Stuff Magazine, Razor Magazine, Muscle and Fitness Magazine and recently was featured on Spike TV’s - Dangerous Curves. Even though Bronte did not step into the modelling industry until she was 19, over the past 5 years this young woman has received a wide range of attention. Bronte has won modelling awards such as Fresh Faces Model of the year, Face of Evian, Australian Swimsuit Model of the year and Miss Indy. With her stunning good looks and lovely demeanour the future only looks brighter for this rising star.

What is it that first interested you about the modelling industry?

I actually got involved in the industry in 1998, back in Australia. I started working as an assistant for a photographer in my spare time from University where I was studying to be a Veterinarian. One of the make-up artists said I should give it a go and I just took to it from there.

There are a lot of model contests out there now such as "Sport Illustrated Model Search" do you think this is a good way for a new model to break into the industry?

It can be a great break for a select few, but can be very disheartening for the 99% that don't make the final cut in the contest. I don't believe that it's really a good judge of talent, the result depends on what the judges are looking for at the time. The industry is difficult in that respect, if you want to make it, you have to keep on trying. You can't take casting rejections to heart - if you do, you'll never get anywhere!

What is the best and worst part about being a professional model?

There are many pros and cons to being a professional model. I'd say the best part for me is getting to see all the different ways that I can look in pictures. Some people don't even know I'm half Chinese! The worst is probably the waiting, there is a lot of uncertainty in the industry and it's very competitive, sometimes you don't know when or what your next job will be. That can be very daunting if you don't have confidence in your abilities.

Do you find that your height of 5'5 has been a challenge for you as a model?

I am considered short for a model, so I don't do much runway. Lucky for me I am proportional to my height, so I do well in photographic work. I wouldn't really say it has caused me any problems.

What was your experience like working with Spike TV?

Working on the show 'Dangerous Curves' which aired on Spike TV in 2004, was a great experience that really wet my appetite for television. I think making TV is the best job in the world, especially any program that makes people laugh. After all it is the best medicine!

Where do you see yourself going in the industry?

It's difficult to look into the future, I'd like to continue in some way in TV- I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. I might turn up on your favourite show!
