Get the scoop on Drake’s cool new treats
With Queen West heating up to summertime highs, the Drake Hotel has just the cool down solution. Joining two of the best parts of summer, cold treats and soft cotton, Drake announces the opening of a pop-up ice cream shop, Drake Scoops + Tees, featuring all natural ice cream and Shared Beloved Basics T-shirts.
The all natural ice cream, from renowned local supplier Metropolitan, will include unique flavours like green tea, banana nutty chocolate crunch and blood orange sorbet, alongside traditional selections such as strawberries and cream, maple walnut and Madagascar vanilla. Toppings include housemade graham streusel, corn flake crunch, seasonal fruit toppings, and chocolate fudge and bourbon caramel sauces straight from Drake’s kitchen.
All ice cream will be available in pints to go, along with ready-made treats like Drake’s wild blueberry yogurt, mojito popsicles, cookies and ice cream sandwiches including dark chocolate and peanut butter. Cones start at $2.95 for kiddie, $3.95 for single, $4.95 for double, $5.95 for waffle, and $7.95 for a half-litre (pint).
Drake is excited to introduce this summer pop-up as a continuation of its long-standing mandate to provide relevant and high-quality cultural and hospitality offerings for the community. Walking into Scoops + Tees will take you back to the days when an ice cream parlour served more than just cones, acting as a go-to spot for beating the heat, hanging with friends and catching up on local gossip.
The shop will include a micro-mini bowling lane for kids and a retro pinball machine. Décor will consist of vintage fans, butcher block countertops and custom built, sun-filled benches. The tees will feature limited edition prints available exclusively at Drake Scoops + Tees, brought to you by the Drake’s new partner, Shared Beloved Basics.
The shop will open seven days a week, scooping Sunday through Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m., Thursday from noon to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to midnight. Every Monday there will be a Scoops Happy Hour featuring 2-for-1 scoops between 7 and 9 p.m. Be sure to stop by and taste the flavour of the week as there will always be a roving new celebrity scoop.
