A Fashion Filled Wonderland!

The original Mad Hatter himself, Tim Burton is about to unleash his deliciously whimsical and off-beat take on the classic Lewis Carroll novel, Alice in Wonderland. The highly anticipated film, which is sure to be a major player at the box office, is also going to have fashionistas smiling like the Cheshire Cat when they see the red carpet that the fashion world has rolled out in order to accompany the film’s release. Fashion royalty Stella McCartney has paired up with Disney to create Alice-inspired jewelry. The limited edition pieces consist of a gold chained necklace and charm bracelet that even the Queen of Hearts couldn’t resist. Playing off the very avant garde and visually stimulating influence of Burton’s film, McCartney embellished her creations with all things Alice (think rabbits, hearts, cards, etc.). The bracelet and necklace will be available at Stella McCartney stores starting in February and will retail for $395 and $425, respectively.

Top jewelry designer Tom Binns has also fallen down the rabbit hole, joining with Disney to help celebrate the release of the film. Binns designed six high fashion pieces for Walt Disney Signature, which will retail for between $1,000 to $2,000, and also collaborated on a more inexpensive collection for Disney Couture with Lucas Designs International, which includes thirty-five enchanting pieces that will retail from $100 to $500.

Some of the world’s top fashion designers also seemed to be sipping out of the same tea cup when designing their Spring/Summer 2010 collections. Kinder Aggugini’s spring 2010 collection most notably took a page from Wonderland’s unique fashion sense with the inclusion of quirky, oversized Mad Hatter-esque hats, and eye-catching Alice-with-an-attitude inspired dresses. You can expect to see more of the Alice influences spilling over into the mainstream fashion world as soon as the film hits theaters on March 5th, 2010. The over the top chic Wonderland stylings are a sure fire way to spice up your wardrobe. You’ll be able to add your own Alice in Wonderland flair to your style by mixing things up with an eclectic blend of colours and out there yet feminine accessories.

For those ever savvy beauty junkies wishing to add some of Burton’s Alice influence into their beauty regime, OPI has released a colourful collection dedicated to the Disney flick, and with names such as “Off With Her Red”, “Thanks So Muchness!”, “Absolutely Alice” and “Mad As a Hatter,” who can resist these vibrant new colours? Urban Decay has also released a limited edition Alice inspired “Book of Shadows”, which will feature a 3D pop-up scene from Alice in Wonderland, and will boast 16 eye shadow colours (all with Alice themed names of course), two mini 24/7 eye pencils and an eye shadow Primer Potion, sure to be an in demand item for by any fashion forward Alice in Wonderland devotee.

So grab a tea cup, brush up on your flamingo croquet, and get ready to enter the topsy-turvy world of Alice in Wonderland. You’re definitely not going to want to be late for this fashionably mad tea party!
